Basil's brother from Southeast Asia has more robust leaves. They remain more vibrant during cooking compared to sweet basil, which is usually added to the dish before serving. It has a slightly spicy, liquorice-like flavour. On the outside, Thai Basil has a darker stem and small, sturdy leaves with serrated edges.
Our Italian Basil is sweet and vibrant in its flavour. Perfect for summoning the scents of Italy straight onto your homemade dishes. We love it as a garnish on our pizzas and salads, or just as the real star of the dish in a delicious pesto.
Our Greek Basil is the younger Mediterranean sibling of the common basil, with just a more distinctive flavour. Its stronger-tasting leaves are smaller, but all the better for dressing your Mediterranean dishes.
Our Shiso is the Japanese member of the mint family. Its large purple leaves produce a slightly bitter taste with hints of mint and cinnamon. We use it in many of our Asian dishes, especially to garnish tofu or fish. Mixed with soy sauce and sesame oil, it makes a delicious marinade for grilled chicken.
Within the basil family, our Lemon Basil is the more pungent sibling, and brings along a fresh citrus aroma. Perfect for making dishes light and zingy, it works well across Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern cuisines in curries and fish. We also love to combine it with fruits like papayas and berries for a fresh summer delight.
Coriander, the famous controversial herb - either loved or hated. We like to add this citrusy fragranced classic to our curries, salads and soups. It is frequently used in South American and Thai cuisine - especially to counterbalance the many spices.
Our Chives give your dips, salads, eggs and potato dishes an extra kick. As a milder version of onion and garlic flavour, they are usually perfectly enjoyable for everyone. They have a mild, sweet to savoury, pungent flavour.
A.I. and technological breakthroughs in agriculture have boosted the efficiency and sustainability of production. Thanks to new technologies we can grow more with less – More diversity, less scarcity.
We empower others to grow more with less and help you to design, build, operate & market your Vertical Farm.
Our farms offer space for collaborative research with Swiss institutions to enhance our knowledge on vertical farming and sustainable agriculture. YASAI is currently collaborating with ZHAW, Agroscope, and Fenaco as part of an InnoSuisse initiative.
Automated internal logistics & lift system
We don’t walk to our plants, our plants come to us thanks to a smart automated logistics system by our partners Logiqs. The logistics system allows us to use space more efficiently and reduces labour costs, since we don’t need corridors. Additionally, it allows a better crop protection because humans don’t need to enter the grow chamber at all.
Automated farm process
Many steps from seed to store are still part of human labour. We are working on solutions in collaboration with top companies to automate repetitive tasks such as seeding, harvesting, cleaning & packaging.
Climate control systems for optimal growth
Our climate control system create the best climate conditions for an optimal growth across the whole vertical farm. With our partner Klinova & Green Simplicity we make sure to grow plants anytime of the year, anywhere in the world, whether in the mountains, deserts, underground or even under water.
Smart Farming with big data & grow recipes
Our farms constantly learn how to grow better. Thanks to software by iFarm our vertical farm learn how to grow any plant. Each plant is unique and requires their own parameters such as light frequencies, climate, nutrient mix & growth cycles. Over time we gather data and learn how to grow better & create the best taste & nutritional value possible.
Circularity as a driver for change
Circularity is in our DNA. Everything we do follows the zero waste policy. We see waste as a resources and therefore create circular systems. We reuse heat, organic waste, nutrients from waste water or even waste space. Our vertical farms are based on a circular economy.
We see vertical farms as an infrastructure for future "smart edible cities." Our design is rooted in circularity. Our farms use cities waste as a resource to promote plant growth and save valuable ones such as land, water, organic and heat wastes. We reuse waste streams in different forms: whether waste space, waste water, organic waste, heat waste – in our case we love waste because it’s a valuable resource. Together, we can contribute to a net zero economy with zero waste, zero food miles & zero pesticides.
